History of Clearwater House
Built on the grounds of an old school house owned by the Salter’s Group in the Loup, Clearwater House B&B is a Victorian style house set back from the roadside on 1.5 acres of land.
When Robert decided to start building the land was mostly marsh, so a lot of work had to go into preparing the ground for a house.
After a great deal of hard work and finding a natural ‘clear water’ spring, the ground was ready for building on.
Robert decided that the Victorians had the right idea for building a house. It should have big windows to let the light flow through naturally. Two chimneys at either side with a good fire place at each to help keep the house warm should the central heating fail.
All of this along with original and reproduction Victorian fittings gives Clearwater House a very warm and friendly feel.
When Robert and Bernie met both of them were looking for a different direction in life. After getting to know each other they decided a Bed and Breakfast would be the way to go.
Bernie had come from a background in catering and hospitality and wanted to do something that would draw from these skills and involve interacting customers.Robert, whose house was now vacant, had recently become interested in local tourism and wanted to help it grow. The natural way forward they thought was to open a B&B.
That was in 2004 and they haven't looked back. Clearwater has gone from strength to strength. They have a client base that has come back year after year. And,now, have plans to branch into a different area of the Leisure Industry with the opening of a gravel race track. A project that Robert and his son Robbie have worked on for the last few years.
Your Hosts, Robert & Bernie
